| Throughout the
year there are numerous special events at Trinity Episcopal Church.
Many of these follow the
feasts of the Liturgical Calendar; others just happen to fit the life
and cycle of our parish in a particular way. We commit our energy,
talent and time to make each of our events special. You are invited as we gather in Christ’s name to worship, play or
work; whether we are cleaning, building, blessing, ringing,
singing, eating, acting, picnicking, watching, hearing, learning,
or teaching,
your presence will make our church family more complete. |

Winter
Epiphany On this holy day we gather to celebrate
the arrival of the Three Kings at the Manger. After our very child-friendly worship, we gather for refreshments in the Parish Hall. Souper
Sunday On Super Bowl Sunday Trinity members prepare a wonderful
lunch of homemade soup, bread, beverages and desert in the Parish
Hall for the congregation and community. We have hosted this event
for more than twenty years and always look forward to the food and
fellowship. The proceeds from Souper Sunday go to the Soup Kitchen
at Fifth Street Shelter Ministries.
Shrove Tuesday marks the last day before Lent,
the forty-day season leading to Easter. We gather in the Parish
Hall for a Pancake Supper,
hosted by the youth of our parish. Before we leave we say “goodbye
to Alleluia” until Easter and turn last year’s palms
into the next day’s Ash Wednesday ashes.
Ash Wednesday Eucharist is held in the morning and in the evening
of the first day of Lent. The service includes the imposition of
ashes, reminding us that we came from ashes and to ashes we will
return.
Lenten Suppers and Study Groups Usually on Tuesday evenings in Lent
folks gather for a simple supper and Lenten-themed study group. Children have an age-appropriate offering as well. |

Spring
Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter The
busiest week in the church year is packed full of incredible worship
opportunities including the Procession of the Palms, Maundy Thursday
with the stripping of the altar, the Good Friday Liturgy, and, on Easter morning, a sunrise service,
breakfast, Easter Egg hunt for kids, and flowering of the cross and a Festival Eucharist at 10:30.
Visit of the
Bishop, Confirmation, Reaffirmation of Vows and Reception At regular intervals Trinity receives a visit from one of our Bishops
for a service of Confirmation and Reaffirmation. After the service
the congregation gathers for a wonderful reception in the Parish Hall,
welcoming the Bishop and honoring the newly Confirmed.
Youth Sunday On this day the young people of the church lead our worship,
reading scripture, serving as ushers, delivering the sermon. This wonderful
service allows our youth to stretch themselves and discover that they
are capable of leading others in lives of faith.
Rogation Sunday Weather permitting, our 10:30 Service
is held out doors at Allison Woods, followed by a covered dish picnic
hosted by
the Parish Life Committee. In this beautiful setting we take time to
be more aware that the earth is God’s creation and that we are
to be good stewards of God’s gifts to us. |

Summer
Vacation
Bible School During one week each summer our Christian Education Committee
hosts vacation bible school for the younger children in our parish and
others who wish to join. The theme of the week changes from year to year,
but the week is a wonderful opportunity for teaching our children about
the Christian life.
Summer Salad Luncheon After church one Sunday in July we gather to
feast on delicious salads prepared by members of our congregation.
The proceeds from this event, sponsored by the Outreach Committee,
go to a community agency.
Rally Day Late in the summer we gather during the Sunday School hour
to kick off the beginning of the Sunday School year. This parish wide
event sets the tone for the school year, introducing children and their
teachers, and bringing all of us into one place as we embark on another
year together.

Autumn Blessing
of the Animals Near the Feast of St. Francis we offer a service on the
lawn to bless the animals and remember God’s love for all the creation.
Oyster Roast Live music,
fresh roasted oysters, delicious Brunswick stew and all the trimmings
make for a wonderful time. Proceeds from previous oyster roasts have
gone to Habitat, Hospice, and the Open Door Clinic.
Annual Meeting We gather to hear reports on the state of the parish,
to elect 4 new members to our Vestry, and to have a meal together.
Sometimes this meeting is held immediately after church. Sometimes
it is held in the evening.

Advent Wreath Making On the first Sunday of
Advent we gather during the Sunday School hour to make Advent Wreaths.
Freshly cut greenery, candles and all the material needed are available
in the Parish Hall. We work together to create our own wreathes to
use in our homes during the weeks leading up to Christmas.
Advent Lessons and Carols One Sunday during Advent
we celebrate this special Anglican Service reading lessons and
singing carols
that foretell the birth of Jesus. The Children’s Choir and
Adult Choir, as well as other special musicians offer their talents
to enrich this service.
Christmas Eve At 6:30PM
we gather for a child friendly service of Holy Eucharist. There is
a Christmas Pageant involving the young
children in our congregation.
At 10:30PM we celebrate a Festival Eucharist complete with 30 minutes
of special music prior to the service. As the service concludes,
just after midnight, we mark the arrival of Christmas and share in
the joy of the season.
Christmas Day On Christmas morning there is a simple service of
Holy Eucharist and carols. |
